Abstract

This research is entitled "The Use of Songs in Teaching English Vocabulary to Young Learners”. The main objectives of this study are: (1) To find out how to use songs in teaching English vocabulary to young learners effectively. (2) To find out the level of vocabulary ability of young learners after being taught by using English songs. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the research design. Students' vocabulary and pronunciation levels improved after being taught using songs. This can be seen from the vocabulary test results which showed a significant increase from 77.89 in the pre-test to 95.78 in the post-test stage. In addition, students' pronunciation also improved from 70.47 in the pre-test to 87.36 in the post-test.
