Abstract
The research aims to: (1) Provide a detailed explanation of the production process of sopi kobok in Rongga Koe Village, (2) Identify how the production volume of sopi kobok affects the household income of sopi kobok distillers in Rongga Koe Village, and (3) Evaluate the cultural and economic benefits of the sopi kobok distillation process in Rongga Koe Village. This study utilized primary data obtained from the Rongga Koe Village Office, sopi kobok distillers or sellers, and secondary data from sopi kobok buyers. The data analysis methods employed include Content Analysis, Thematic Analysis, and Narrative Analysis. The results of the study are as follows:(1)The production process of sopi kobok in Rongga Koe Village, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, is a unique and traditional method involving five main stages: harvesting palm sap from the enau tree, fermenting the sap, distilling the sap, aging the sopi, and packaging and selling the final product. The use of traditional tools and the distinct process result in sopi kobok with a unique taste that differs from other regions. (2) Based on the income data of sopi kobok production over one month and one year from 18 distillers and sellers in Rongga Koe Village, it can be concluded that sopi kobok production significantly impacts the distillers' economy. In one month, total production reached 4,313 bottles with a gross income of IDR 216,650,000 and a net income of IDR 60,080,000. Annually, the total production reached 51,756 bottles with a gross income of IDR 2,599,800,000 and a net income of IDR 720,960,000. These data indicate that the sopi kobok industry plays a crucial role in enhancing household income and contributing significantly to the local economy. (3) The production process of sopi kobok in Rongga Koe Village has a significant positive impact both culturally and economically. Culturally, sopi kobok is an integral part of the traditional heritage of the Rongga Koe community. The production process, which still maintains traditional methods from harvesting palm sap to distillation using bamboo tools, is essential in preserving cultural values and local wisdom. Sopi kobok also serves as a symbol of togetherness in various traditional ceremonies, such as weddings and harvest festivals. Economically, sopi kobok production has become the primary source of income for many families in the area.
