Abstract
Consumptive behavior is individual behavior that is shown by excessive and unplanned consumption of services and goods that are lacking or even unnecessary. This research was conducted with the aim of gaining knowledge about the consumptive behavior of students playing the online free fire game towards purchasing virtual items (case study at the student boarding house in Dhijori, Oesapa sub-district, Kupang city). The data collection techniques used were in-depth interviews, observation and document study. The analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions. From the results of research conducted by students playing online free fire games, it was found that purchasing virtual items resulted in the creation of positive and negative behavior. In positive behavior, they want to look different from other people. They want to be different from other people in terms of appearance in their account in the free fire online game, attracting the attention of other people who see their appearance because they often use items that have advantages. Negative behavior results in not thinking about future needs due to continuing to purchase virtual items. Reduces the opportunity to save because you are tempted to continue buying items promoted by free fire. And get involved in buying quality and rare items.
