Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Posing learning model on the mathematical communication abilities of seventh-grade students at SMPK St. Yoseph Naikoten. This study uses an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected through observation of teacher and student activities, as well as pre-test and post-test assessments and interviews. Observation results show that the implementation of the Problem Posing learning model in the classroom was very good, with the teacher successfully acting as a facilitator and students actively participating in the learning process. Interviews revealed that most students were able to write down the known information and state it according to the problem, but still experienced difficulties in writing logical and relevant reasons in answering questions. The research results show a significant effect of the Problem Posing learning model on students' mathematical communication abilities (Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000, t-calculated = 24.440, t-table = 2.074). This research reinforces previous findings that demonstrate the effectiveness of the Problem Posing learning model in improving students' mathematical communication skills.
