Abstract

This research is a qualitative study that aims to analyze the creative thinking ability of SMP Negeri 20 Kupang students in solving mathematical problems in two linear variable equation system The subjects in this study were three eighth grade students who had high, medium, and low ability. In addition, the selection of subjects was also based on the results of discussions between researchers and mathematics subject teachers. Data collection in this study used test techniques and interview guidelines, Analysis Data includes data reduction, data validation, and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data using time triangulation. After the data is presented and analyzed,it can be concluded that(1)Students with high ability are able to solve Problems with diverse answers and can solve more than one way of solving, then these students meet both indicators of creative thinking ability, namely indicators fluency, flexibility. (2)Students with moderate ability only fulfill two indicators of creative thinking ability, namely indicators of fluency and flexibility. (3) While students with low ability meet one indicator of creative thinking ability, which is an indicator of fluency.
