Abstract

The problems discussed in this thesis are: (1) Why are cognitive restructuring techniques used to reduce bullying behavior? (2) How is the process of applying cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce bullying behavior? (3) Are cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling effective in reducing bullying behavior? The purpose of writing this thesis is to find out:(1)Reasons for implementing cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce bullying behavior. (2) The process of applying cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce bullying behavior.(3)The effectiveness of the application of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling to reduce bullying behavior. The writing of this thesis uses the literature study method. The object of study in this thesis is cognitive restructuring techniques, group counseling and bullying behavior. The results of the study in this thesis show that this technique is used to change a person's wrong or irrational perception or cognition to become rational. In addition, the counselee is also able to establish a relationship between perception and cognition that can damage himself and change the perception or cognition to be rational so that the counselee is better able to improve himself. Likewise with bullyingbehavior carried out by someone against the victim, the bully has an irrational mind to him. He considers himself to be superior to other people so that he can arbitrarily commit acts of violence against his victims which causes them to become depressed and live with fear. The application of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling is carried out through several stages, namely: gathering information, helping the counselee become aware of his thought process, examining the counselee's rational thinking process and providing assistance to the counselee to evaluate the counselee's beliefs, helping the counselee learn to change his internal beliefs and assumptions. The results of the study and analysis in this thesis prove that the use of cognitive restructuring techniques through group counseling is effective in reducing bullying behavior. This is supported by articles of previous research results which have proven that after being given treatment or modeling using cognitive restructuring techniques, there is a change in individual behavior in a positive direction. Based on the results of this writing, it is expected that: (1) Readers: in order to increase their knowledge and skills in applying cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce bullying behavior. (2) Observers in the field of guidance and counseling: to better master and understand and be skilled at using cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce bullying behavior, (3) The author should better understand and master the process of implementing cognitive restructuring techniques through group guidance to reduce bullying behavior.
