Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the students' mistakes in solving fractional operations problems. This research was conducted on students of SMPK St. Yoseph Naikoten class VII F, totaling 6 students. The data used in this study were obtained through a pre-test and interview process using a subjek of 3 (three) students, namely students with high abilities, students with moderate abilities, and students with low abilities. The results of this study are the types of student errors in solving fractional number operations problems including misunderstanding the problem, transformation error, process skill error and writing error answer. In general, the most prominent mistakes made by students in solving problems are errors in understanding questions and errors in process skills. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the most prominent errors made by students are misunderstandings about questions and errors in process skills, this is due to a lack of understanding of the material and lack of accuracy of students in working on questions given by the teacher.
