Abstract
This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to describe the understanding of mathematical concepts of students of SMPK St.Yoseph Kupang in submitting SPLDV questions. The research subjects were three students through the selection of report cards for the mid-semester mathematical exam and based on the researcher’s discussion with the mathematics teacher. The data collected in the form of data on the resuls of the task of submitting questions and discussing concepts that were explored based of indepth interviews from question sibmissions based on indicators on concept understanding consisting of indicators of translation,interpolation,anf ekstrapolation. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Checing the validity of the data using time triangulation. After the data is preseted and analysed, it is concluded that high and moderate students are able to understand the questions posed by fulfilling the three indocators of understanding the concept,namely indicators of interpreting translation and extrapolation. Whele low-ability studenst are only able to undestend the questions posed on the translation indicator.
