Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of student errors in solving the Pythagorean theorem. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative which aims to see the results of students' work in solving problems that become the direct benchmark to find out the types of student errors in solving algebraic arithmetic operations. The research subjects were 3 students with high, medium and low academic levels. The validity of the data using the triangulation method is done by comparing the information or data in different ways. Researchers used the results of the analysis of the Pythagorean theorem test and analysis of interview results as a comparison of the triangulation method in this study. The results of the analysis of this study showed that students with high academic levels did not make any mistakes, students with academic levels were making 1 type of error, namely technical errors. and students with low academic levels make 3 types of errors, namely conceptual errors, procedural errors and technical errors
