Abstract

Problem Based Learning is a learning model that makes problems as the starting point of learning. The problem faced by students is a kind of real problem raised by the teacher and is associated with the learning material to be studied. Problem Based Learning gives students free space to think to find concepts and solve problems related to the material presented by the teacher. The main problem in this research is how is the student's mathematics learning achievement taught using the Problem Based Learning model on the subject of number patterns?; How are students' mathematics learning achievements taught using the Project Based Learning model on the subject of number patterns? And is the mathematics learning achievement of students taught with the Problem Based Learning model better than those taught with the Project Based Learning learning model on the subject of number patterns? To answer the problem above, quantitative research is used with comparative and analytical methods, namely the comparison test of the average of the two sample classes and the SPSS 22.0 for widows program as a comparison. The purpose of the research is to compare mathematics learning achievement in the Problem Based Learning model and the Project Based Learning model. Based on the results of SPSS 22.0 obtained tcount = 2.515 > ttable = 2.04841, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted as a hypothesis which means that student achievement taught using Problem Based Learning is better than student achievement taught using Project Based Learning. Based on the results of data analysis, research results and research discussion concluded that student achievement taught using the Problem Based Learning model is better than student achievement taught using the Project Based Learning model.
