Abstract

Indonesia is a maritime country, so sea transportation is one of the best among the people, especially those who want to be between provinces. Embarkation and debarkation activities that occur at ports have many advantages, one of which can improve the regional economy. Seeing this, it can be said that the port has a very important role. Therefore, the development of port facilities is very necessary to support various activities at the port, especially activities at the port, namely embarkation and debarkation. East Flores Regency itself as one of the regencies in East Nusa Tenggara Province also has a port, namely Larantuka Port. However, various facilities at Larantuka port are still inadequate and cannot support various embarkation and debarkation activities. This can be seen from the minimal terminal capacity, the conversion of parking lots and various other problems that interfere with embarkation and debarkation activities at this port. Therefore, the design of the Larantuka port ferry terminal is very necessary to overcome these problems. By using a metaphorical approach in architecture as a solution to the terminal design problem. Through the use of tangible metaphors, the building can not only accommodate various embarkation and debarkation activities, but the building can also become a symbol or icon of the journey itself.
