Abstract

This study uses a mixed-method with questionnaire and interview as the in- strument. The aim is to present information about students' perceptions of the English language day policy in East Nusa Tenggara. A total of 100 students were randomly selected from five universities to fill out the questionnaire and 15 students were selected to be interviewed. After going through the data analysis stage, the results obtained: on the "perceiver" dimension as much as 90.75% gave a positive response while 9.25% gave a negative response, the "target" dimension got 90.50% positive response and 9.50% negative response, the dimension "situation" obtained a slightly higher negative response than the other dimensions, namely 39.50%, and the remaining 60.50% gave a positive response, supported by interview data. In conclusion, the positive response to the English Day policy is greater than the negative response; it means that students give a positive response to this policy where they have high enthusiasm and confidence with the existence of the English language day policy. They also really hope that this policy can be prioritized in educational institutions and its implementation can be seriously considered by the government so that the younger generation has adequate facilities in learning English. They realize that English is not one of the things to advance NTT, but they believe that by being able to speak English, the possibility of NTT to progress is higher.
