Abstract

This research was conducated in March 2016 in the city Kristen High School Kupang. Subjects in this study werw students of class XI IPS SMA Kristen Kupang city will be selected three students from the class bassed on their level of ability. This selection is bassed on the learning achievement or grades the first semester of the three students as well as discussions with the class teacher This study was conducted to determine students' mistakes in solving math problems the subject of statistics in terms of the ability of students. The data used in this study was obtained through the test questions in advance and the interviewing process by using samples of three (3) students are students with high ability, students with moderate ability and low ability students. Results from this study is the type of error that made students include notation errors, misconceptions, mistakes and miscalculations understand about the data. In general, the most prominent mistakes do learners was a miscalculation and error to understand the matter. Based on the results of the analysis can be seen that the most prominent mistakes do learners was a miscalculation and error to understand the matter, this was due to lack of understanding of the material and the lack of rigor in the students' work on the problems.
