Abstract

One of the problems facing the world of education today is the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic which is now starting to penetrate the world of education where the implementation of the face-to-face learning process has now to the online learning. One of the online learning media that is currently developing and starting to be used is Google Classroom. Google Classroom has many advantages in creating easy-to-use learning and for systematic delivery of assignments. The application of the use of Google Classroom in the online learning process in various schools requires a more in-depth study of the use of Google Classroom as a learning medium. Therefore, this study aims to find out the implementation of Google Classroom in English Learning at SMK Negeri 3 Kupang during the covid-19 pandemic. The research uses qualitative methods obtained from interviews. A total of 20 students, 4 English teachers, and 1 vice-principal of the curriculum section of SMK Negeri 3 Kupang were selected to be interviewed. The results of this study illustrate that the implementation of online English learning using Google Classroom has been carried out quite well, the school has provided the basic facilities needed, and it describes the readiness to implement online learning. However, learning English using Google Classroom has obstacles in its implementation, unstable network conditions and difficulties for students to understand learning materials are challenges in online learning. Based on the research conducted, recommended to optimize the use of Google Classroom learning materials during the learning process to make students more motivated to learn. Students should ask more questions about things they don't understand in the learning process so that they can understand and practice well
