Abstract
Solmization is a system of placing a different syllable in each number notation and the reading while singing it. Solmization in singing technique is applied so that student have mastery of tone as an absolute requirement in order to be able to carry out a song or song well. Teaching materials that can be given to train the high and low of a tone are by singing the melody of a song. In the learning process, the material presented is about the skill of reading, solving, and singing model songs. The formulation of the problem proposed in this research thesis is how the effort made to improve the ability to read solmization with the Indonesia Subur song model using the drill method for class VIIIA student of Adisucipto Catholic Junior High School Penfui Kupang. The goal to be achieved by the author is to find out the efforst made in impoving the ability to read solmization with the Indonesia Subur’s songs model throught the drill method for Class VIIIA student at Adisucipto Catholic Junior High School Penfui Kupang. This study uses a qualitative approach. The method used is field action. In collecting data, the author uses techniques, namely library research and field studies consisting of observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analysed using qualitqtive descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that efforts to improve the ability to read solmization with the Indonesia Subur song model through the drill method for Class VIIIA Student of Adisucipto Catholic Junior High School Penfui Kupang are carried out through several stage or preparation which is focused on approaching and recruiting 10 members, determine the training schedule and convey the goals and objectives. The core stages of the researcher carried out in eight meetings, which focused on warm-up exercises, ready by payingattetion to note values,reading the etude of jumping tones,reading solmization of model songs, singing model song poems, and repetition exercises of model songs by reading solmizations, and poetry. The last stage, the researcher carried out the process of strengthening exercises in singing the Indonesia Subur song and the final performance. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that in improving the ability to read solmization there were many difficulties experienced. However, this can be overcome by giving the exercise repeatedly with a slowed tempo so that it can lead to changes in the way the student of Calss VIIIA sing at Adisucipto Catholic Junior High School Penfui Kupang properly and correctly.
