Abstract

This research is a qualitative research that aims to describe the analysis of student errors in solving mathematical connection problems in rectangular material. There are four types of student errors in solving mathematical connection problems, namely: understanding errors, transformation errors, process skills errors, and writing errors in the final answer. The subjects in this study consisted of two students with moderate and low mathematical abilities. Research subjects were also selected according to the results of discussions between mathematics teachers and researchers. Data retrieval is done through the provision of mathematical connection test questions and interviews after the subject completes the test. Credible research data obtained by time triangulation method. Data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and data inference. The results showed that subjects with mathematical abilities were making two types of errors, namely process skills errors and errors in writing the final answer. Meanwhile, subjects with low mathematical ability made three types of errors, namely transformation errors, process skills errors, and writing errors in the final answer.
