Abstract

The thesis entitled “The Effect of Supervision, Reward and Punishment on Teachers’ Performance with Work Motivation as an Intervening Variable at Public Senior High School 1, Amfoang Selatan, Kupang Regency” is written by Dedi Alberd Parikas Reg, No. 8112191007MM,under the supervision of Dr. Stanis Man, SE., M. Si and Dr. Damianus Talok, MA. This study aims to know the effect of supervision, reward and punishment on teachers’ performance with motivation as an intervening variable. The population in this study is 31 teachers at Public Senior High School 1, Amfoang Selatan, Kupang Regency. All population is taken as sample. The data are collected using a questionnaire and then are analyzed applying descriptive statistic and inferential statistic using Smart Partial Least Square. The results of descriptive statistic analysis indicate that supervision, rewardand punishment, work motivation and teachers’ performance at Public Senior High School 1, Amfoang Selatan, Kupang Regency are categorized as good. The results of inferential statistic analysis show that supervision, reward and punishment partially have a significant effect on work motivation, while supervision has insignificant effect on teachers’ performance. The results of inferential statistic show that reward and punishment have insignificant effect on teachers’ performance, while work motivation has a significant effect on teachers’ performance. the work motivation is able to mediate the significant effect of supervision, reward and punishment on teachers’ performance. The value of determination coefficient on teachers’ performance is 0.795 or 79.5% and the value of work motivation is 0.557 or 55.7%. Based on these results, it is suggested to the management of Academic Section at Public Senior High School 1, Amfoang Selatan, Kupang Regency to enhance the effectivity of supervision particularly in planning indicator, in motivating teachers, and to pay attention in reward and punishment, especially in the criteria indicators of reward and punishment at Public Senior High School 1, Amfoang Selatan, Kupang Regency.
