Abstract

Model of cooperative learning is a strategy that requires active students in the groupand allow students to help each other and understand each concept, checking and repairing friends as input and answer other activities that aim to achieve optimal learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of learning through the application of Biology Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) in the subject matter organization SMP class life Adhyaksa 2 Kupang Recognized Private School Year 2013/2013. This research was conducted in November of 2013 in the junior Recognized Private Adhyaksa 2 Kupang research subject class VII school year 2013/2014. This type of research is the use of pre – experimental design with one group pretest – posttest design. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis of the data shows that the average score of the teacher’s ability to manage the learning is 97.32%, the activity of students during the PBM model STAD cooperative learning approach, showed that the average student activity during on going PBM is 95.41%, sensitivity items was 0.45%, the reliability of the instrument student activity with the activity level of 96.23%, an increase in student learning outcomes of the average U1 (pretest) to an average of 35.45, U2 (posttest) 77.81%, completeness indicator average of 0.86, 100% classical completeness. The conclusion of this research is the application of cooperative learning model through STAD effective approach to learning biology, the subject matter of the organization of life in the junior class VII Adhyaksa 2 Kupang Recognized Private School Year 2013/2014.
