Abstract

This writing is entitled “A Study on Affixation in Tetun Prasa.” There are two problems to be answered in this study, (1) What kinds of Affixes that exist in Tetun Prasa?, and (2) What are the grammatical functions of the Affixes? The aim of this writing to identify the kinds and functions of affixes in Tetun Prasa language. The method used in this research has been descriptive qualitative. Tetun Prasa language has three types of affixes. They are Prefix, suffix and circumfix. There are five kinds of Prefix, they are (Ha), (Hak), (Na), (Nak) and (Nam) four types of suffix namely, suffix (-saun), (-dór), (teen) and (tu) and two kinds of circumfix namely (Hak-....-k) and (Ha-....-k). Prefixes in Tetun Prasa language has function to change verb into noun, adverb into noun, vebr into adjective and verb to ver. Sufixes in Tetun Prasa has function to change noun into verb and adjective to adjective. Circumfix in Tetun Prasa have function to change adjective to verb and noun to verb. The suggestion given to all reader. The wrirer would like to offer some suggestion as follow as: (1) For the Readers They can practice analyzing the used of affixation in the different language used folktales. (2) For the Researchers They can study further about affixation viewed from prefix, sufix and circumfix, and also the researcher who is interested in taking the research about Tetun Prasa language, they can use this research as the one of resources. (3) For the Teacher They can explain about the affixation, so they can use it in the teaching – Learning Process
