Abstract

This thesis is entitled “A Grammatical Error Analysis Of The Tenth Grade Student’s of SMAN 1 KUPANG in the School Year 2019/2020”. This study was conducted to answer the following questions: (1)What are the grammatical errors analysis committed by the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG in the school year 2019/2020 in grammatical errors analysis? (2)What are the most common errors committed by the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG in the school year 2019/2020 in grammatical errors analysis? The objectives of this study are as follows. (1)To find out of the types of grammatical errors analysis committed by the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG in the school year 2019/2020 in grammatical errors analysis. (2)To find out the most common errors committed by the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG in the school year 2019/2020 in grammatical errors analysis? The writer used the grammatical error analysis method. It was used to describe the students errors in descriptive writing. The subject of this study was the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG in the school year 2019/2020. The total number of the student is (). By using purposive sampling the writer only chose class X MIPA 5 consisting of 10 students to become respondents of this study. In collecting the data, the writer prepared some possible topics and the students may choose one to write a descriptive text. The time allocation was 60 minutes. The result of the analysis shows that: (1) The tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG committed errors. The total number of the errors by the students is 62. It covers 52 (83.87%) of misformation errors. 6 (9.67%) of omission errors, 6 (9.67%) of addition errors, and 0 of misordering. (2) It is clearly seen that the most common error is misformation errors. A number of suggestions would be offered to many sides in accordance with their competence and responsibility. The English teachers of the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 KUPANG are suggested to give more attention to teach the students about grammar, vocabularies, and how to write good descriptive text. The students are suggested to learn more about structure, using personal pronoun, conjunction, to be and tenses.
