Abstract

This research entitled “ENGLISH TEACHER’S FEEDBACK ON STUDENTS’ WRITING OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT”. This study was conducted to find the answer to the research problem, namely what types of teacher feedback on students' writing descriptive texts? The purpose of this study is to determine teacher’s feedback on student’s writing SMA Negeri I Adonara Timur. The participant in this study is one English teacher in SMA Negeri I Adonara Timur. This study used a qualitative method. The researcher used documentation as the required data. The researcher collected the teacher’s feedback on students’ descriptive writing. The writer used the theory of Faigley and Witte (1981) et al which classifies the types of teacher feedback, into formal change/feedback, meaning change/feedback, macrostructural changes /feedback and Changes/microstructure feedback. The results show that there were two types of teacher feedback used by the high school English teachers in Adonara Timur, namely Formal Change/Feedback and Microstructural Change/Feedback. Based on the result of the study, it is suggested that the teachers must continue to apply direct and indirect feedback on students’ writing so that the teacher can find out the improvement of each student’s own knowledge in every material that has been taught by the teacher.
