Abstract

This thesis is entitled Voting Behavior of the Lembor Sub-District Community in Making Choices for the Endy – Weng Package in the 2020 Mabar Election. The main problem in this research is How the Voting Behavior of the Lembor Sub-District Community in the 2020 West Manggarai Election Case Study of the Victory of the Edistasius Endi, SE and DR. Julian Weng. The aim is to describe and analyze the voting behavior of the Lembor Sub-district Community in determining their choices in the Endy – Weng package in the 2020 Mabar Regional Election. The theory used in this research is voting behavior in the form of a sociological and psychological approach. Descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The informant purchasing technique used in this study is the purposive technique. The types of data are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation and finally verification/conclusion The results of the study show that (1). The sociological approach, in the form of work background, education, similarity of origin/region and ethnicity of Lembor with the Edy-Weng couple, greatly influences the political choices of the people in Lembor District. According to the community, the Edy-Weng couple's occupational and educational background can answer all problems in Lembor District in particular and West Manggarai in general regarding agriculture, health, and economic problems, especially those related to rice price stability where the majority of the population in Lembor sub-district work as farmers. The people in Lembor Subdistrict tend to choose the Edy-Weng couple because of the consideration that Edistasius Endi is a native of Lembor and the community wants the West Manggarai Regent to come from Lembor after Wilfridus Fidelis Pranda in 2005. (2). The psychological approach, in the form of the comfort of the candidate pair or bearer pair and the comfort of the vision, mission and work program offered by the Edy-Weng couple, greatly influences political choices in the people of Lembor District. The people of Lembor Subdistrict consider the convenience factor of the candidate party or bearer party in choosing the EdyWeng pair with considerations of ideology, slogans and political work carried out by the supporting party. The community chose the Edy-Weng partner, inseparable from the vision, mission and programs they offered during the campaign which were assessed according to the needs and problems that existed in Lembor District in the form of technology-based zoning of agriculture, livestock and fisheries, increased access and quality of health services and incentives for medical personnel, Special attention for the elderly, commitment to reduce maternal and child mortality, Equity and improvement of the quality of all types of community service infrastructure and roads. Based on the results of the analysis above, the authors conclude that social characteristics (type of work and education), social grouping (similarity of religion, ethnicity and region of origin), similarity of candidates or supporting parties as well as considerations based on orientation of similar vision, mission and work programs of candidates influence the political choice of the people of Lembor District in choosing the Endy – Weng package in the 2020 Mabar ix Election. Based on the conclusions above, the authors suggest that in the future there is a need for strengthening and political education carried out by the West Manggarai Regency Government, Political Parties and Election Organizers, namely the KPU and Election Supervisors, namely Bawaslu voters to be rational voters in determining political choices.
