Abstract

This research is entitled Political Orientation of the Communities of Komodo District in Pilkada During the Pandemic Period in West Manggarai Regency 2020. The formulation of the problem in writing this thesis is How is the Political Orientation of the Communities of Komodo District in Pilkada During the Pandemic Period in West Manggarai Regency 2020. The theory used by researchers in solving the research problem is Political Culture and Political Orientation especially Cognitive, Affective and Evaluative Political Orientation. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Primary data sources are informants while secondary data are documents related to research variables. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis stage was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing stage and then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results of the study show that (1). Cognitive Political Orientation, that is, the people in Komodo District choose the four pairs to fight in the 2020 West Manggarai District Election, inseparable from the vision, mission and programs they offer during the campaign which are considered solutive, objective, realistic/implementative, original/innovative and have excellence overall the work program is better than other candidates covering the Agriculture, Education, Health, Economy, Infrastructure to Government Sector. (2) Affective Political Orientation, namely that the people in the Komodo District tend to choose 4 pairs of Candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent based on primordial considerations such as ethnicity, region and religion. This is based on ethnic and regional egos as well as political advantages, in this case ASN will occupy the position of Head of Service, Sub-District Head to Lurah besides that for the community there will be a massive development impact in their area. Communities in Komodo District consider the similarity of the candidate or supporting parties in selecting the 4 pairs of candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent of West Manggarai 2020 with ideological considerations, both Pancasila and Islam and the political work carried out by party cadres carrying the 4 pairs of Regent and Deputy Regent candidates who sitting in the West Manggarai DPRD as well as figure factors and persona in political parties such as SBY figures, Surya Paloh, Wiranto, Prabowo Subianto and Jokowi. (3) Evaluative Political Orientation, namely that the people in the Komodo District consider the real work factor for the community in selecting 4 pairs of candidates for the 2020 West Manggarai Regent and Deputy Regent by looking at their real work when they served as ASN, Members of the RI DPD, DPRD and Deputy Regent of West Manggarai . The real work carried out by the 4 pairs of candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent of West Manggarai 2020 was very varied, starting from refusing to privatize Pede Beach, coaching football and kempo athletes, tourism development, social assistance for people affected by the tornado to the distribution of masks during the Covid pandemic -19. Based on the results of the analysis above, the authors conclude that cognitive, affective and evaluative political orientation influences the orientation of the people in Komodo District in selecting 4 Candidate Pairs for West Manggarai Regent and Deputy Regent in the 2020 Pilkada. Based on the above conclusions, the authors suggest that in the future there is a need for strengthening and political education carried out by the West Manggarai Regency Government, Political Parties, KPU and Bawaslu to voters so that they become rational voters in making political choices not based on primordial considerations.
