Abstract
Pata melo is a song that accompanies the Etu (traditional boxing) ceremony in Natameze Village. Pata Melo is usually sung by the elders when the boxers are about to enter the arena. The song contains traditional language that challenges the boxer to fight. Based on interviews with a number of young people, the author obtained information that there is an assumption that Pata Melo is outdated so that the younger generation of Nagekeo is only interested in the boxing game. The main problem in this study is how the form of presentation and what is the meaning of Pata Melo singing in the Etu traditional ceremony in the Natameze traditional village community, Boawae District, Nagekeo Regency. This study aims to analyze the form of presentation and meaning of Pata Melo singing in the Etu ceremony performed by the Natameze village community. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach and using naturalistic and ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques were observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects in this study were 2 mosalaki who knew about pata melo. The stages of this research are determining informants, conducting interviews, asking questions, documentation and analyzing interviews. The results showed that the singing of Pata Melo in the Etu traditional ceremony, namely every verse sung has the meaning of social motivation, namely strengthening the spirit, friendship, and unity besides having to remain vigilant and careful of opponents and the most important thing is sportsmanship. The results of the discussion show that the form of presentation of pata melo is carried out through three stages, namely the initial stage, the presentation stage and the final stage. The poetry of pata melo singing is easy and difficult to be translated by today's youth and future generations. Based on the results of research and discussion, it is concluded that, Pata melo and etu are not immediately held but must go through several processes of presentation forms from wuku enga (notification), until finally ibha ae (watering water). The meaning of the Pata melo song is the expression of a motivation of friendship not a revenge or emotional.
