Abstract

This thesis is entitled "Factors That Determine Women Work in the Household Economic Sector (Case Study of Women as Vegetable Traders in Pasar Baru City of Atambua)". The formulation of the problem in this research is What Factors Affect Women Working in the Household Economic Sector. The theory used by researchers is the Role of Women in a Gender Perspective, the Role of Women in the Family Economy, the Role of Women in the Household, and the Motives of Women in Working. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. Primary data sources are informants while secondary data sources are library materials, literature, and previous research. Data collection techniques used are interviews and documentation. The research results from the aspects of financial factors and social-relational factors show that (1) the factor of women working in the household economic sector because they want to prosper the family economy and help the head of the household in terms of increasing family economic income. (2) the factor of women working in the household economic sector is also because they want to build social relations with other people that can lead them to positive things. Based on the results of the discussion on the Factors That Determine Women Work in the Household Economic Sector, it can be concluded that the factors of women working in the household economic sector are due to the shortage and limited income earned by husbands, also due to the demands of daily living needs. which continues to increase, this situation also encourages these women housewives to take independent initiatives and work in the public sector. Besides that, another factor is that they may not live at home with their husbands and children alone, but they need social relations with other people. the result of building social relationships with others.
