Abstract
The purpose of the research is : 1) Improve the ability to think high levers of learners through the inquiry. 2) describe cognitive learning outromes, and completeness of indicators of cognitive learning outcomes through inquiry approaches The research method used was quasi experimental. The population of this study was class X students of high school natural science sint carolus penfui kupang with study sample consisting of 2 classes obtained using simple random sampiling technique, namely the experimental class of 28 people using the inquiry and control class approaches which amounted to 29 people. Using techniques manely tests. Research results show that : 1) Inquiry approach has an effect on increasing students’ high level thingking skills. 2) in the experimental class and the control class had a different ngain score, namely the experimental class score was 0,54, the increase in high level thingking skills in experimental class students included the medium category, and the control class had a score of 0,29 hence increasing high level thingking skills in class students controls included in the low category. Students learning outcomes have increased after being given treatment using the inquiry approach. In the experimental class in inquiry approach was applied and scored 80% greater than the control class which scored 65%.
