Abstract
In the regional head election, the election process is influenced by various factors including identity politics. Identity politics refers to the way in which individuals identify themselves in relation to certain groups such as tribes, religions or ethnicities and how these identities influence their political preferences. Regional elections are also often an event where identity politics plays a significant role in determining the victory of candidates. Voting behavior in regional elections is one part of the study of political participation. A person's behavior in choosing a particular party is influenced by several internal and external causes of a person's life such as the state of the political system, economy, culture and mass media. In addition, it is said that the influence of family, religion, education and personal relationships in society. This study aims to determine the influence of identity politics on people's voting behavior in the 2018 Nagekeo Regency regional head election. Therefore, to achieve this goal, the researcher used a data collection technique with a questionnaire with a sample of 40 people. The data analysis technique used was quantitative descriptive statistical analysis using percentages and inferential statistical analysis techniques using product moment correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis. The results of the study showed that there was a significant influence between the bonds of Primordialism and Constructivism on People's Voting Behavior in the 2018 Nagekeo Regency Pilkada. This proves that the theory used by the author, in the form of a close relationship between voting behavior and aspects of social status, ethnicity, culture, language, area of residence and so on, is proven, with a value of rh = 0.508 greater than rt = 0.320. This means that people's voting behavior is influenced by identity politics by 50.8%.
