Abstract
This research aims to develop a prototype of a web-based automatic plant watering monitoring system, specifically for Patat Varigata plants. Patat Varigata is a type of ornamental plant favored by Indonesians and requires special care, including watering and monitoring soil temperature and humidity. The problem addressed is the inefficiency and potential harm caused by traditional watering methods. Many farmers still use manual methods, such as gravity or pumps, which are inefficient and inaccurate in meeting the plants' water needs. The benefit of this research is to facilitate farmers in caring for ornamental plants using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. IoT technology allows all objects to be interconnected through sensors and the internet, providing accurate real-time data. Utilizing the ESP8266 microcontroller, this system enables remote control and monitoring of plant watering conditions. The ESP8266 is an open-source microcontroller that uses a System on Chip (SoC) with Wi-Fi for internet connectivity. The method used in this research involves developing a monitoring system tool using the ESP8266 microcontroller based on IoT for remote control and monitoring. This prototype will measure important parameters such as soil temperature and humidity and adjust watering according to the plant's needs. With this system, it is expected to assist farmers in monitoring and regulating plant watering conditions efficiently and accurately according to the plants' needs. The results of this research are expected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ornamental plant care and reduce the risk of plant damage due to improper watering.
