Abstract
Research wasconducted on the effectof interferenceof Fe(III) in analysis Cr(III) on sulfide mineralsamplesfrom East Sumba Regency with oxineas acomplexesagent usingUV-Vis spectrophotometry. The purpose of this study wereto determine the optimum conditionsof wavelength, pH and effect of interfering Fe(III) ions on the analysisofCr(III) with oxine as the complexing agent. This research was conducted with the stages of determining ofmaximumwavelength, optimum pH, the interference effectsof Fe(III) ions on the analysis of Cr(III),and determination ofCr(III)levels in sulfide mineral samples before and after the precipitationof the interferingions. The results showed that the maximumwavelength was 465 nm,optimumpHwas3, the interferenceof Fe(III) ions on Cr(III)shows anincrease in the absorbanceof the solution. Ion Fe(III) as an interferencewaseliminated through precipitation with NaOH at pH 4. Therefore, the concentration of Cr in the samples before and after precipitation of Fe(III) ionswas determined to be900 μg/g and 800 μg/g, respectively.
