Abstract

This thesis is entitled THE ROLE OF THE VILLAGE GOVERNMENT IN MOVING THE PARTICIPATION OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION TO PRESERVE ADONARA ITIK WEANING IN BALAWELING VILLAGE, WITIHAMA DISTRICT, EAST FLORES DISTRICT. The main problem being studied is the role of the government in encouraging the participation of the younger generation to preserve Adonara ikat weaving in Balaweling village, Witihama subdistrict, East Flores regency. The aim is to describe and analyze the government's role in encouraging the participation of the younger generation to preserve ikat weaving in Balaweling Village, Witihama District, East Flores Regency. The theory used as a basic concept is participation theory, direct participation and indirect participation. This basic concept is taken from the theories of John M. Echols Shadily, Fasli Djalal and Dedi Supriadi, H.A.R Tilaar, Sundariningrum, Cohen and Uphoff. The method used is a descriptive method, to explain the role of the village government in encouraging the participation of the younger generation to preserve Adonara weaving. The primary data sources are informants, while secondary data are documents related to research variables. Data collection techniques used; interviews, observations, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis stage was carried out by collecting data and then analyzing it in depth to solve the problem being studied using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this research found that an aspect of the role of the village government in encouraging the participation of the younger generation to preserve ikat weaving is the government's determination in the formation and development of human resources. From this aspect it is known that the government's role is not optimal in developing human resources. In the aspect of increasing the production and quality of weaving so that it becomes the village's superior product, it is known that development efforts are oriented towards increasing and supporting the community's family economy by women in Balaweling Village. The role of the village government in increasing the production and quality of ikat weaving so that it becomes a superior village product is of particular concern as is the development of the community MSMEs in Balaweling Village itself. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the village government has not allocated a village budget to fulfill facilities and infrastructure to support weaving activities.
