Abstract

A very important government organization for population movement between countries is immigration. This study aims to determine the role and function of immigration in the border areas of the country as well as the obstacles faced in immigration enforcement against foreign nationals. The study was conducted through a normative and qualitative legal approach from primary to secondary sources. According to the results of the study, immigration plays a very important role in regulating the traffic of people, implementing immigration law, providing services, together with other organizations, and encouraging the community. Institutions, supervision activities, operational rules, infrastructure and human resources are the problems faced. These problems must be solved to maintain the country's border areas and its security.
