Abstract
In this research, the researcher used the qualitative research. The subject of this research were two students of the eight grade, students which consist of one male and female student who had good ability in mathematics. The research used a problem solving task and interviews as method of data collection. The result of the research showed that the thinking process of male and female students in solving the problem met the thought process indicators of receiving information, processing information, storing information and recalling information of the memory. The thingking process between male and female students there are differentce in the stage receiving information, processing information and storing information. However, in the stage of recalling information of the memory.
