Abstract
The form of a traditional architecture is an expression of culture combined with local wisdom of the people in a place and isinfluenced by the availability of natural materials around it. For the Fatumnasi community, ume kbubu is a shelter, storing food stuffs, and aplace to start life (giving birth and caring for post natal women). This building was built with natural material sthat have the character of being flexible, strong, lightweight but still easy to shape into dynamic and able to respond to climate changes that occur. The motivation use dis descriptive qualitative to describe qualitatively there lation ship between material and form. The types of materials and their characteristics are described in detail according to their function in forming the construction elements of the building. The object being studiedis the Ume kbubu belonging to the resource person who is determined using purposive sampling technique. Data obtained through direct observation, documentation and interviews. The resultsof this study indicate that the material used for the construction of the ume kbubu is related to its conical shape. The flexible, strong, lightweight and easy to form material characterizes the ume kbubu which is dynamic and responds to existing climatic conditions
