Abstract

The problem of drug trafficking in the border areas of Indonesia and Malaysia, especially in West Kalimantan, is increasingly troubling. Border areas have important strategic value to maintain the sovereignty of the state so that their management is carried out specifically by the government. Transnational crimes such as drug trafficking have caused unrest and threatened security in the border region. This research focuses on the role of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) in tackling the problem of drug trafficking in the region. The formulation of the problem in this study includes how the role and efforts made by the TNI, as well as the obstacles they face in dealing with drug trafficking on the border of Indonesia and Malaysia. The research method used is normative juridical, which emphasizes the analysis of the application of positive legal norms. The results show that although the TNI faces several challenges, such as the large number of rat lines and limited sophisticated equipment, it plays an important role in maintaining security and enforcing the law at the border. TNI also interacts with the community through counseling programs and anti-drug campaigns to make the environment safer and free from drug threats. In conclusion, the TNI continues to strive to create a safer and more prosperous Indonesia-Malaysia border environment. To effectively address this issue, a holistic and collaborative approach is required.
