Abstract
The Kaubele people are an agrarian society who have a tradition of maintaining the productivity of their paddy fields by practicing the Nahake ritual tradition. This study aims to look at communication practices in the Nahake tradition. The method used in this study is ethnographic communication with in-depth interview data collection methods, observation, and direct participation in it. This study finds Nahake as a cultural ritual through the planning, implementation, and post-implementation stages. At stages, there is interpersonal communication, group, and nonverbal communication. In the Nahake ritual, communication plays a role in connecting people with nature, each other, ancestral spirits, and God. In addition, the Nahake tradition is part of the life cycle in maintaining land productivity for the survival of the Kaubele people. Nahake is a preventive and curative solution when experiencing rice farming problems. Nahake also helps keep the social integration of the local community.
