Abstract

The urban growth in Kupang City has significantly increased housing demand, while environmental challenges such as water scarcity, high temperatures, and limited open green spaces remain prevalent. This study presents the planning of TimorGreen Residence as a green housing development, tailored to Kupang’s dry tropical climate and socio-economic context. Using a descriptive‑qualitative method, the research involves literature review, analysis of PUPR green building regulations, and local climate considerations. The green architecture approach includes building orientation aligned with prevailing winds, natural ventilation, daylight optimization, eco‑friendly materials, rainwater harvesting, and integration of green open spaces. Findings demonstrate that these design strategies reduce energy consumption, minimize mechanical cooling needs, and improve indoor comfort and environmental quality. TimorGreen Residence serves as a model for sustainable housing in Kupang, with long-term benefits including carbon footprint reduction, resource conservation, and improved living comfort. The study offers practical guidance for designers and local policymakers in implementing green housing developments in regions facing similar climatic and environmental conditions.
