Abstract

This research is titled, Waste Management in Fatululi Village, Oebobo District. The problem in this study is the low effectiveness of waste management in Fatululi Village, Oebobo District, which is characterized by a high volume of waste due to population growth and urbanization, but it is not balanced by the availability of adequate infrastructure facilities such as Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS), transport fleets, and cleaning personnel? The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze waste management in Fatululi Village, Oebobo District in an effort to improve environmental cleanliness. To explain the main problem above, the Theory of Waste Management, Waste Management, Waste Management System and Waste Management Hierarchy was built. The method used in this study is a Qualitative Descriptive method with data collection techniques, namely; interviews, observations, and documentation. The variable in this study is waste management. The results of the study show; 1) the ability to sort waste, there is still low public awareness regarding waste sorting, which leads to careless waste disposal. 2) The level of community participation in sorting waste, community participation in sorting waste in Fatululi Village is still very low. People generally still adhere to the old paradigm of "collect, transport, and throw away" without separating between organic and inorganic waste. 3) There is public awareness in preventing environmental pollution by collecting waste to temporary landfills (TPS), the implementation of which still faces various significant obstacles. This awareness is hampered by the lack of an adequate fleet (garbage transport cars) and the slow repair of damaged vehicles. This causes delays in transportation and causes public complaints, even to the point of closing the polling station by certain individuals. 4) To ensure good TPS management and minimize negative impacts on the environment, lack of public awareness in disposing of waste according to a predetermined schedule, and low public understanding of the importance of using facilities such as waste banks, this shows weak education and supervision from related parties. Based on the results of the analysis, it was concluded that waste management in Fatululi Village has not run optimally due to low community participation in waste sorting, limited facilities and infrastructure such as TPS, and lack of awareness and active involvement from the government in the implementation of waste management policies. Therefore, the author suggests the need to continuously increase public education regarding the importance of environmentally friendly waste management, the provision of adequate waste management infrastructure, and the enforcement of strict and consistent regulations so that waste management can be carried out in a planned and systematic manner.
