Abstract
This study aims to describe students' critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems in social arithmetic materials. This type of study is qualitative descriptive. The subjects in this study were 3 students in grade VIII of SMP Katolik St. Yoseph Kupang. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking skills tests and interviews. To test the validity of the data, it was carried out using triangulation techniques. Data analysis is carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing data conclusions. The results of this study show that the three subjects have good abilities in interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, and inference based on the data provided. This can be seen from the written results of the description of each subject in accordance with the indicator points of critical thinking ability, but in the subjects JB and VK did not write conclusions on the answer sheet but orally the subjects JB and VK conveyed related to the conclusions at the time of the interview. Thus, the three subjects have the ability to think critically in solving problems.
