Abstract

Widya Mandira Catholic University (UNWIRA) is one of the private universities in Kupang which was established in 1982. UNWIRA has a total of 21 study programs. For 36 years, the university has produced many graduates from various study programs. From year to year, there are many graduates produced directly proportional to the number of thesis collections in each study program. Plagiarism problems are often found in many fields, especially in the academic field. This problem is also become serious problem that needs to get more attention. Plagiarism shows the existence of an unhealthy academic culture in the world of education. This is compounded by the ease of internet access to download scientific works. The existence of plagiarism in an academic institution will cause the credibility of the institution to be questioned by the community so that it has an impact on the institution's good name. The existence of allegations of plagiarism cannot be ignored but must be followed up and tested for truth by finding out the percentage of similarity in many Indonesian documents. Therefore it is necessary to make a "Plagiarism Detection Application for Thesis Text Documents with the Levenshtein Distance Method". This application is made in view of the need to detect plagiarism in student theses with a predetermined threshold. This application will detect the comparison of two texts and in large quantities with effective and efficient time.
