Abstract

Technological developments in the era of globalization have a significant impact in various fields, including education. In Manggarai Regency, several schools, such as SMP Negeri 1 Ruteng-Cancar, have implemented technology in their operations. However, the process of registering new students at the school is still done manually, which results in various obstacles such as errors in data input, data processing, and determining selection results. This research aims to design a web-based new student admission system that involves stages from registration to announcement of selection results. This system will store prospective student data and selection results in a database, making it easy for prospective students and parents to fill out online registration forms, upload documents, and monitor acceptance status. Apart from that, this application will also help administrative staff in managing registration data and processing selection. This research uses the Waterfall Model with stages such as analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation. The system is designed using MySQL as a database and PHP and HTML for programming. The implementation results show that this system has succeeded in increasing the smoothness and accuracy of the registration process, as well as reducing the accumulation of physical documents in schools. Thus, this system can be used as a model for other schools that wish to use information technology for the process of admitting new students.
