Abstract

The yearly achievement of national examination both for SMP and SMA is not entertaining. Consequently, it causes another problem to face by related parties such as schools, students, societies, and the government office for education, youth and culture. Likewise, it is with the average of the standard passing score of the examination (SKHU) for SMP in Kupang regency. Especially for English, yearly, the score is instable, event it tends to decrease, and it becomes an important issue for teachers need to be able to employ suitable learning method, learning strategies, and to give motivation to students in order that he/she faces no difficulty in helping his/her students for the examination. The finding of this research indicates that, partially, the learning method and learning strategies have no significant influence on the achievement of national examination for English in the school year 2009/2010. The learning motivation variable has positive and significant influence on the dependent variable. Simultaneously, learning method, learning strategies and learning motivation have positive and significant influence on the achievement of national examination for English in the school year 2009/2010. The contribution of determination coefficient (R2) is at 65,90%, meaning that 34,10% of the influence if from other factors not treated in this research.
