Abstract

Furthermore, this study was conducted to answer the following questions: (1) What are of kinship terms in Miomaffo Dialect of Uab meto spoken by people in Naibenu Sub-district? (2) What are the social factors and functions of address using by people in Naibenu Sub-district? The objectives of this study are (1) To find out kinds of terms of kinship of Miomaffo Dialect of Uab Meto spoken by people in Naibenu Sub-district. (2) To describe the social factors and functions terms of address of Miomaffo Dialect of Uab Meto Spoken by people in Naibenu.The study was conducted in Benus village, Naibenu Sub-district, TTU Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Due to qualitative study the data were obtained through interview.The data were analysed through: writing, Transcribing, and translating by gloss into English.In the line with the problem statement, it was found that terms of address of Miomaffo Dialect of Uab Meto spoken by people in Naibenu Sub-district are influenced by some types of address terms, social factors and functions. There are two types of address terms used in Miomaffo Dialect of Uab Meto spoken by people in Naibenu Sub-district. They are title such as uispael ‘romo’, Fetor ‘sub-district head’, and kinship term such as ama ‘father’, ena ‘mother’, am’ usi ‘grandfather’, tete ‘grandmother’. Furthermore, the social factors are divided into five. They are rank of other/social status, age, family relationship, gender, and transactional status. Related to the third problem, there are two functions of address terms. They are to show intimacy, and politeness. The findings are 1) There are two types of address terms used in Miomaffo Dialect of Uab Meto spoken by people in Naibenu Sub-district. They are tittle, and kinship term. Somehow, some address terms of Miomaffo Dialect especially title are borrowed from malaybidan, dokter etc. 2) Related to the second problems there are two functions of address terms. They are intimacy and politeness.The people of Naibenu sub-district are suggested to keep speaking their language and its terms of address to keep better social relationship in daily communication.
