Abstract

Discovery learning approach is a bunch of learning activity which involves all the abilities of the students maximally to find out and investigate systematically, critically, logically, analytically so they can formulate their own discoveries. The purpose of writing this paper is to find out how the effectiveness of the discovery learning approach in learning seen from students acquisition of the redox reaction and electrochemical compulsory subject of the twelfth grade students of first science class of SMA PGRI Kupang. This scientific paper is based on writer's teaching practice experience in SMA PGRI Kupang in 2019. The method which is used is descriptive quantitative method and the data which is used is primary data. Moreover, students acquisition in learning which applying discovery learning approach to the redox reaction and electrochemical compulsory subject of the twelfth grade students of first science class of SMA PGRI Kupang was 83 and it was declared complete because the students acquisition are higher than Minimal Completness Criteria which is declared by SMA PGRI Kupang is 76. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of discovery learning approach of redox reaction and electrochemical compulsory subject is very effective because it can improve students acquisition.
