Abstract

One of the watermelon production in NTT, precisely in the Kampung Daun Farmers Group, Kupang Regency, Taebenu District, Baumata Village, this area has the potential to grow crops which have an annual income of 80% - 90% (1 ton - up to 2 tons) according to a productive schedule. watermelon planting with an area of 1 hectare The potential problem that occurs is that the Kampung Daun Farmers Group has difficulty identifying pests and diseases that attack watermelon plants and the process of dealing with them, which hampers the growth process and experiences crop failure, causing huge losses for the community. owner of the Farmers Group. The problems above can be solved with the help of an expert in providing solutions regarding pests and diseases of watermelon plants that can be solved with the help of technology, namely using a computer by designing a system, namely an expert system that works like an expert or sharing the knowledge and experience of an expert to the wider community to detect pests and diseases that attack watermelon plants. The fact finding in this expert system is using the Certainty Factor method to determine the level of expert confidence in a problem. The application is designed using the PHP programming language and MYSQL database, and the methodology used in making this application is the Waterfall model. The result of this study is an application of an expert system in diagnosing diseases in watermelon plants, which can help the community in general in cultivating watermelon plants, in particular, it can help the Kampung Daun Farmer Group to get information quickly and efficiently.
