Abstract
increasing the development of activities in the market, facilities and infrastructure are the most important things to support the community's economic activities. Atambua Traditional Market has several building facilities, including: one period of building a fish market, two periods of building a vegetable market and five periods of building a two-story shophouse and also a kiosk -sales stalls/tents, guard posts, public toilets, and parking lots. Atambua Traditional Market does not escape various problems from architectural problems, function problems, to utility problems. The architectural problems that exist in the Atambua Traditional Market are: the stalls selling traders are not neatly arranged, causing a buildup that causes pedestrian circulation to be disrupted, this is due to the unclear arrangement of the merchant area. Realizing the Atambua Traditional Market Design Planning by applying the theme of modern architecture. The research methodology used is using a precedent study by conducting comparisons between study objects, through literature studies and field studies/ observations. From the results of the analysis, it is necessary to classify commodities or types of goods, control aromas in the fish market area, improve utility systems, improve parking control areas. waste and the need for a separation between human circulation, circulation of goods and circulation of vehicles. while the potential that can be developed is the addition of facilities and infrastructure, increasing the number of building floors, the use of operating hours and also traditional markets that attract millennials so that they can compete in the current era of modernization. others such as market management, government regulation, and public awareness as the main actors
