Abstract
Economics as a positive and empirical science has developed very rapidly. There is no doubt that economics has contributed a lot to the economic development of individuals, communities, nations and countries. Economics with all its branches has been able to provide an explanation of economic phenomena that occur in concrete life. More than that, economics can provide predictions on the activities or realities of economic life that are close to the truth. Economics, if studied, can make people in decision-making become more rational. The essence of the economic problem is the existence of an imbalance between unlimited human needs and very limited means of satisfying needs. In economics itself there are many streams of economics consisting of pre-classical economics, classical economics, and modern economics. Classical economics is generally considered to be the first modern school in the history of economic thought. The Wealth of Nations has become influential because it has vigorously made the field of economics and its development into a systematic and independent discipline. There is no denying that Adam Smith's economic thought is indeed empirical and positivist, even though behind his explicit statements there is a hidden economic philosophy.
