Abstract

This thesis is entitled the function of the traditional house of the Matabesi tribe as a means of education and peace (a case study of Umanen village, Atambua Barat District, Belu Regency) Therefore, the meanproblem which must to explain is: How the function of traditional house can become a instrument of educaton and peace. All purpose in this of this reset to explain function of traditional houses become a place for learning education and peace. So, this write must make us realize and love with our culture in the society. And for the government of Belu Regency must have action to supporting and can make this write become a source for study of the culture. In this reset of the write, witer use the idea of an antropolog of culture from England the name is Sir Edwar Burnet Tylor. Since year 1871 he make definition about culure is have general part: Knowledge, faith, law, morality of habits and other things which to have members society of the culture. In this write use description metod, according the writer, thir metod can explain well about reality of the Traditional Houses and rites of the ethic of Matabesi conteks. Ai tos, We Lulik, Oda Matan Lor, Oda Matan Rae, Selak Besi. Selak Lor, Kematan Lalian, Las, Kakuluk Bei Mane no Kakuluk Bei Feto,and Kotan is the part of structur Traditional Houses and to use for make rites; rai fohon, leno urat, kaba, sor umalulik, hakoluk isin, etc. and all traditional ritualization of the Matabesi Traditional House becomes an interesting to explore its meaning, because through this tribal members can obtain correct and precise knowledge about the function of the Matabesi Traditional House as a means of education and peace for the integrity of living together as citizens. From the conclusions above, it can be recommended some suggestions, namely for further researcher to continue to make new breakthroughs on cultural research and must work together with the government to prosper the indigenous peoples by making traditional houses an attractive cultural tourism icon to be preserved.
