Abstract

This study aims to determine the profile of understanding the concept of power numbers in grade VII junior high school students, which is broken down into 3 namely: (1) To determine the profile of understanding the concept of power numbers in high-skilled seventh grade junior high school students. (2) To find out the profile of understanding the concept of rank numbers in grade VII SMP students who are moderately capable. (3) To find out the profile of understanding the concept of rank numbers in grade VII junior high school students who have low abilities. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research by providing problem-solving task instruments, and interviews. The results of the study can be concluded that: High-ability subjects are able to restate a concept, are able to classify objects according to certain properties according to the concept, are able to give examples and non-examples of concepts, are able to present concepts in various forms of mathematical representation and are able to apply concepts or algorithms to the concept. solution to problem.
