Abstract

A learning activity is successful or not, can be measured from the achievements obtained by the students. Achievement is obtained if the learning process takes place both in the classroom supported by the correspondence between teaching, subject matter and methods or models used learning. One model of learning that should be used is the model of learning solving problem. The problem studied in this research is the difference of achievement mathematics learn between the teaching of students taught using learning model of solving problem and that students taught using conventional learning class VIII SMP 9 Kupang second semester of academic year 2013/2014. This problem is solved by using experimental research methods as a purpose to find out the differences of achievement mathematics learn between the teaching of students taught using learning model of solving problem and that students taught using conventional learning class VIII SMP 9 Kupang second semester of academic year 2013/2014. The hypothesis of this study that there are the difference of achievement mathematics learn between the teaching of students taught using learning model of solving problem and that students taught using conventional learning class VIII SMP 9 Kupang second semester of academic year 2013/2014. From the results of hypothesis testing using SPSS V. 16.0 for windos obtained a significant number of t = 0,001 and t count = 3,647 . While the results of the manual calculation of t count = 3.63 and obtain the table = 2.009 . This means that the number is significantly smaller than 0.05 and t count > t table . It can be concluded that there are the differences significant of achievement mathematics learn between the teaching of students taught using learning model of solving problem and that students taught using conventional learning class VIII SMP 9 Kupang second semester of academic year 2013/2014. Therefore, we as teachers should to use a model of learning problem solving in learning activities in mathematics, especially on the subject matter and the surface area of a cube beam.
