Abstract
This research aims to find out how the implementation of learning with discovery learning model, whether stundent achievement increased after applying the discovery learning model, and whether there is effect of discovery learning model of mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students. The sample in this study is the students of class VIII SMP Adi Sucipto Kupang City which amounted to 30 people. The implementation of learning by using discovery learning model is very helpful for the teacher, because this learning model can involve students actively, where the teacher only as facilitator and students are given the apportunity to search, find, solve ownd problems and make conclusions. After applied the learning model then the student’s learning achievement is inscreasing. Data used in this research are pretest and posttest value data from experiment class and Discovery Learning model. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 22. Before testing the hypothesis, a requirement test was tested for normality for pretest and posttest data. From the analysis results for the pretest data obtained niai Asymp. sig. (2-tailed) = 0,200> 0,05 and Dacount = 0,129 <0,242 = Dtable then H0 accepted, thus can be concluded that the data is normal distribution. While the posttest data is obtained by Asymp.sig. (2-tailed) = 0,010> 0,05 and Dacount = 0,185 <0,242 = Dtable then H0 is accepted, thus the data is normally distributed. Hypothesis testing using paired sample test, after the data were analyzed obtained Sig value. (2-tailed) = 0,000 <0,05 and tacount = 19,872> 2.045 = ttable then H0 is rejected, so it can be concluded that there is significant effect on the use of Discovery Learning model to mathematics learning achievement of junior high school students of Adi Sucipto Catholic City of Kupang. The results of this research showed that the application of discovery learning model has an effect on the achievement of learning mathematics. Therefore, the authors suggest for teachers to apply the model of Discovery Learning in classroom learning.
